SHAKESPEARE'S OTHELLO

Stage Play is a Tokyo-based theater company dedicated to bringing English-language Shakespeare performances to schools and universities across Japan. Originally established as a bridge for international productions, Stage Play transitioned into Japan’s first professional English-language Shakespeare troupe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our cast includes actors with diverse and impressive backgrounds, from PhDs in theater to experience working with Academy Award winners in Hollywood, and performing at Shakespeare’s Globe. By building a national company with Tokyo-based actors, we ensure that our productions remain accessible, affordable, engaging, and enriching for new generations of audiences while maintaining a world-class level of acting.
